Council confirms up to seven weeks of road closures for resurfacing works.

WARRINGTON Borough Council has confirmed up to seven weeks of road closures for resurfacing works starting from March 18.

The works will include Farrell Street and Knutsford Road and adjacent streets.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows: –
Temporary Prohibition of Driving & Clearway: Farrell Street from the roundabout at Kingsway South to the junction at Howley Lane; St. Katherine’s Way from the junction at Farrell Street for 50m; Holmsfield Road from the junction at Farrell Street for 100m; Knutsford Road from the junction adjacent to Latchford Post Office to the junction at Thelwall Lane; Knutsford Road from the junction at Kingsway South to a point 25m west of Powell Street; Alleyway to the rear of 43 to 89 Thelwall Lane from the junction at Knutsford Road for 25m; Maybrook Place from the junction at Knutsford Road for 25m; Powell Street from the junction at Knutsford Road for 25m.
Temporary Suspension of the following Orders: The Borough of Warrington (St. Katherines Way, Warrington) (One-Way) Order 2017 in its entirety; The Borough of Warrington (Powell Street) (Traffic Regulation) Order 1983 in so far as it relates to Article 2, Schedule 1 and the One Way on Powell Street.

The Order will be effective from 18th March 2024 for 7 weeks, between 7pm and 1am, as and when signed on site. The restrictions will be carried out in phases as follows: Farrell Street Phase A: Kingsway South Roundabout to Bretton Avenue; Farrell Street Phase B: 150m West of Bretton Avenue to 200m East of Howley Lane; Knutsford Road Phase 1: Latchford Post Office to Thelwall Lane; Knutsford Road Phase 2: Kingsway South to 25m west of Powell Street. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Farrell Street (both phases) via Church Street, Manchester Road, Kingsway North and vice versa; Knutsford Road Phase 1 to turning adjacent to Cheshire Cheese Public House; Knutsford Road Phase 2 via Knutsford Road (Swing Bridge), Hunts Lane, Ackers Road, A56 Chester Road, A49 London Road, A49 Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington Bridge, A49 Mersey Street and Warrington New Bridge. The restrictions are required for carriageway resurfacing.

  1. Alot of the road surfaces mentioned do not require a full surface redress .
    All they need are new markings give way lines zig zag yellow lines etc.
    This is WBC spending the last of last year’s money to a kid the Government holding the amount back from this year’s Budget .
    Once again WBC throwing the residents money away !
