FOUR firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled a fire in a roof space at a property in Bewsey, Warrington, which is believed to have been started accidentally.

At 16:21 yesterday, Sunday, two crews from Warrington and Penketh attended a property on Lilford Avenue following reports of a fire in a roof space.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a short extension ladder and two hose reels to access the roof space and put the fire out. Crews then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.

All persons were accounted for at the property. A neighbouring premises was also checked to ensure that the fire had not spread.

An initial investigation into the cause of the fire indicates that it was caused accidentally.
