THE trial of a 17-year-old boy accused of murdering a Chapelford woman has been postponed until the summer.

The teenager, who cannot be identified because of his age, was due to stand trial beginning on January 29 but a judge agreed today (Thur) that this should be delayed.

Chintzia McIntyre, aged 48, described by neighbours as “a lovely mum’ was found outside her home in Phoenix Place, Chapelford, at about 9.40 am on August 29 last year having been seriously assaulted.

She was pronounced dead at the scene after police, paramedics and an air ambulance had been called.

Her alleged attacker did not appear at Liverpool Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing, as had previously been agreed and a joint application was made by the prosecution and defence to adjourn the hearing.
Judge Brian Cummings, KC adjourned the case until April 17 for a further pre-trial review and fixed a new trial date to begin on June 24.
The court heard that the youth is currently detained at Rowan View Hospital in Maghull.
