Discarded cigarette believed to have started house fire at Burtonwood

A discarded cigarette is believed to have started a house fire at Burtonwood, Warrington on Christmas Eve.

At  17:30  one fire engine from Warrington and one from Merseyside attended reports of a house fire on Fairclough Street, Burtonwood.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel water jet to put out a small fire in the living room of a property.

A large fan was also used to clear smoke. It is believed the cause of the fire was a discarded cigarette.
