Eleven arrests on “Mad Friday” as police clampdown on disorderly and violent behaviour

POLICE made eleven arrests in Warrington town centre on “Mad Friday” as officers clamped down on disorderly and violent behaviour.

During #OpJingles officers arrested 11 people in the town centre for various offences including; affray, Drunk and Disorderly and various assaults. They made three positive stop and searches for drugs offences and issued five dispersal notices.

A Police spokesperson said: “The majority of people are out having fun and we’re here to support that – but disorderly or violent behaviour in our town will not be tolerated.”
Officers were deployed across Warrington undertaking checks at various licensed premises before heading into town for the Nighttime Economy.
Throughout the festive period, they have additional officers on duty to ensure people are safe and Cheshire remains a hostile place for criminals.

*Mad Friday is broadly deemed to be the last working Friday before Christmas Eve. This popular night is often associated with social events, such as office Christmas parties, and similar revelry that tends to be characterised by excessive alcohol consumption.
