FOLLOWING a competitive recruitment process, Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals (WHH) have appointed a new Chief Nurse.

Ali Kennah has worked at the Trust since 2017, most recently as Associate Chief Nurse and then Deputy Chief Nurse. She will step into her new role on 1 April 2024, taking over from current Chief Nurse Kimberley Salmon-Jamieson, who is joining Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as their Executive Group Chief Nurse
Ali began her career in the NHS 28 years ago, joining after qualifying in 1995 and working her way through the ranks from nurse to matron. Prior to starting at WHH she was Head of Quality at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (previously St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust).

Ali said: “After seven years at Warrington and Halton I am truly delighted to be appointed to the post of Chief Nurse, working with fantastic staff who are committed to providing the highest quality care every day to improve patient outcomes and experience.
“It is my pleasure to represent the nursing, midwifery and allied health professions in an organisation that keeps high quality patient care at the heart of all decision making.”

Simon Constable, Chief Executive of the Trust, said: “I am delighted to announce Ali’s appointment; she is a real champion of our patients and staff. I am confident that she will do a brilliant job in her new role as Chief Nurse, and I am pleased to welcome her as the newest member of our Executive Team and Trust Board.”
