A 25-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a fail-to-stop collision on Winwick Road, Warrington, involving a 16-year-old boy cyclist.
Shortly after 4.15pm on Tuesday 12 September, police were called to reports of a collision on A49 Winwick Road, near to Warrington & Vale Royal College, involving a silver Audi A6 and a pedal cyclist.
The car failed to stop at the scene and the vehicle was found abandoned by officers in an alleyway near Longford Street and Rhodes Street.
The cyclist, a 16-year-old boy, was airlifted to hospital for treatment to his injuries. He sustained potentially life-changing injuries and is now recovering at home.
Following enquiries, officers have now arrested a 25-year-old man from Warrington in relation to the incident.
The man was arrested on Thursday 23 November on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody at this time.
