Children’s home plan set for approval

PLANS for a children’s home accommodating six youngsters with complex needs will be considered by planning chiefs at Warrington tomorrow (Thursday).

The scheme involves the conversion of a disused building in Catterall Avenue, Poplars and Hulme and the erection of a bungalow to provide additional accommodation.

There have been no objections from nearby residents and officers are recommending the application be approved.
The building has been unoccupied for some years and was last used as offices, although it was originally a shop.
A report to be considered by Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee says the principle of the development is acceptable. The appearance of the building will be complemented by soft landscaping although most existing trees will be lost.
Up to 11 staff will be on-site during the day and four at night.
