Football club plans new stand for away supporters

WARRINGTON Town Football Club has applied for planning consent for a new stand, turnstiles, toilet and catering facilities to enable it to remain in the National League North, to which they won promotion last season.

The Football Association National League System requires improvements to be made following promotion to a higher league – a key aspect being to make provision for the separation of home and away supporters.

Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee is to consider the proposals at their meeting on Thursday (November 9) when officers will recommend they are approved.
The proposals include a new demountable stand with seating for 182 away supporters, separate turnstiles for away supporters and separate catering and toilet facilities.
The new turnstile would be on the club’s existing car park and the stand, toilet and catering structures would be located within the existing boundary wall along Wash Lane.
They would be in keeping with the existing buildings within the ground. They will not increase the ground’s capacity.
Officers say the development is acceptable and would not have any unacceptable impact on visual or residential amenities, nor on the local highway network.
