UP to four weeks of evening road closures are set to start on the Cantilever Bridge from next Monday, November 13.

From next Monday works will be taking place to resurface the Southeastern and Southwestern Approaches to the Cantilever Bridge.

The scheme on the SE & SW approaches to the Cantilever Bridge was originally planned to commence this week for up to 5 weeks but following further programming discussions with the contractor the start will be from next Monday.

As both approaches to the bridge will be closed there will be no vehicular access across it during the working times, but pedestrian access is maintained at all times. The resurfacing works stop at the Cantilever Bridge as it is not the council’s to maintain.
Due to the nature of the works the roads will be closed from 7:00pm to 1:00am Monday to Friday (Saturday morning) for up to 4 weeks.
The diversion route will be via Ackers Road, A56 Grappenhall Road, A49 London Road, A49 Wilderspool Causeway, Loushers Lane, Wash Lane, Station Road and vice versa, or via Ackers Road, Hunts Lane, A50 Higher Knutsford Road, A50 Knutsford Road, Station Road and vice versa.

All access will be under the control of the contractor on site at all times during the works. All roads will be fully open to traffic outside the working times.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during the works. Vehicles parked on the road, verge or footway obstructing the works may be removed.
Residents will need to speak to the operatives on site, about access during the closure times, and they will be able to advise when this will and will not be possible due to the nature of the works taking place.
