FIRE crews had to gain entry to tackle a kitchen fire at a property in Woolston, Warrington, earlier today after cooking was left unattended.

At 09:31 crews from Birchwood and Greater Manchester were called to reports of a smell of smoke coming from the property on Austral Avenue.

Firefighters had to gain access to the property as there was no householder in attendance and cooking had been left unattended.

The crews ventilated the property using a high-pressure fan and the Birchwood fire engine remained at the scene until the boarding up company and householder arrived.
