FIRE crews were called out to two incidents last night, Saturday, one involving a kitchen fire and the other a block of flats in Warrington.

At 18:55 two crews from Penketh and one from Warrington, were called out to reports of a kitchen fire at a property on Old Liverpool Road.

On arrival, crews found a fire involving the kitchen of the property and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to put the fire out, which was contained to the kitchen area. A large fan was then used to clear smoke from the property.
The occupier of the premises was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and handed into the care of paramedics.

Then at 19:34 crews from Warrington and Penketh were called to a report of a fire in the foyer of a block of flats on Winwick Road.
Crews helped dampen the fire, which was out before their arrival.
They then removed exposed tiles to check for further fire spread and monitored the area using a thermal image camera.
