ANDY Hawley – nephew of well-known Rugby League match official Frank Hawley who died early this year – has started the biggest challenge of a series he is tackling in memory of his uncle.
He is well into a 3x3x3 challenge – running three miles every three hours for three days to raise funds for Warrington’s St Rocco’s Hospice where Frank sadly died in February.
The daunting challenge will finish at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday evening in time for the start of a planned fireworks display.
Andy has two more events planned in his fundraising – two junior rugby games on November 12 between Crosfields U10, who Frank’s great nephew Noah, plays for and Woolston U10 kick off 11:30, and Crosfields U12 versus Woolston Rovers U12 where Frank’s grandson Isaac is a player. Kick-off 12:30. Both games are to be played at Crosfields.

Andy has already taken part in the Great North Run in Newcastle and the Warrington Running Festival. His fund-raising target is £3,333 – and so far he has raised £1,588.
Frank Hawley was a teacher at Cardinal Newman High School, Warrington but was best known as a Rugby League match official
From refereeing schoolboy rugby he went on to officiate in the biggest matches on the biggest stage – four Challenge Cup finals and two Grand Finals. He first appeared at Wembley in 1989.
He was a winner of the Warrington Wolves Foundation Heart and Soul Community award.
