House extension approved – despite council lodging an objection

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a house extension at Appleton – despite the local parish council lodging an objection.

Members of the borough council’s development management committee approved the proposals in London Road after officers had said the scheme was acceptable.
Appleton Parish Council opposed the plans on the grounds that they represented an over-development of the site and concerns about the adequacy of parking arrangements, given the number of bedrooms there would be in the house.
But officers said the principle of the development was acceptable in a residential area. There would be no detrimental impact on residential amenity, the character and appearance of the area or on highway safety.
They also pointed out that the existing house had four bedrooms and would still have four bedrooms after the part two-storey part single-storey extension had been built.
The existing driveway could accommodate three to four cars and transport planning officers had confirmed that after the extension had been built, three cars would still fit on the drive, which was appropriate for a four bedroomed house.
There were no representations from neighbours.
