THE M56 eastbound near Warrington was closed earlier today, Thursday, as firefighters and paramedics worked to release a trapped casualty following a two-vehicle collision.
At 11:22 a.m. crews from Lymm and Birchwood attended reports of a collision on the M56 eastbound, junctions 9 to 8 near the Lymm interchange.

There has been a two-vehicle collision on the M56. Crews stabilised one car containing a casualty and the motorway was closed while the incident was being dealt with.
Police, ambulance and Highways England were also in attendance.
Firefighters assisted by paramedics have released a casualty from one of the vehicles.
The motorway has since re-opened.
In another incident 2 (of 4) lanes were closed on the M6 northbound earlier in the day between J21 Warrington and J21A Croft Interchange following a collision involving at least 2 vehicles.
Traffic is being held on the #M56 eastbound between J9 #LymmInterchange and J7 near #Altrincham following a serious collision.
