CCTV image released following fail-to-stop collision involving cyclist on Winwick Road

POLICE investigating a fail-to-stop collision on Winwick Road, Warrington, which left a teenage cyclist with potentially life-changing injuries have released a CCTV image of a man they are looking to identify.

Shortly after 4.15 pm on Tuesday 12 September, police were called to reports of a collision on A49 Winwick Road, near to Warrington and Vale Royal College, involving a silver Audi A6 and a pedal cyclist.

The car failed to stop at the scene and the vehicle was found abandoned by officers in an alleyway near Longford Street and Rhodes Street.
The cyclist, a 16-year-old boy, was airlifted to hospital for treatment of his injuries. He sustained potentially life-changing injuries and is now recovering at home.
Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and as part of the investigation, officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

PC Baskerville, of Cheshire Police Roads and Crime Unit, said:“This collision is likely to impact the victim for the rest of his life and we’re committed to doing all we can to trace the person responsible.
“As part of our ongoing enquiries we would like to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV image as we believe he may hold vital information.
“If anyone knows the identity of the man, we urge you to get in touch with us. I would also like to appeal directly to the man to come forward.
