Busy road providing access to M6 set to close for four days

A busy village road providing access to the M6 near Croft is set to close for four days to allow Openreach to carry out telegraph pole replacement works.

Winwick Lane, from its M6 junction 22 to its junction with Stone Pit Lane, Croft, will be closed between 9:30 am- 3:30 pm from October 16 for up to four days, while the works are carried out.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Winwick Lane from its junction with M6 junction 22 to its junction with Stone Pit Lane.
The Order will be effective from 16th October 2023 for 4 days, between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
The alternative route will be via Winwick Link Road, Newton Road, Winwick Road, Mill Lane, Southworth Road, Newton Road and vice versa.
The closure is required to allow Openreach to carry out telegraph pole replacement works.
