AN appeal for information from the public has been launched by police after a memorial lantern was believed to have been stolen from the Trans Pennine Trail in Warrington.

At around 10 a.m. on Saturday 16 September, it was reported that a memorial lantern placed along the Trans Pennine Trail in Latchford had been stolen earlier that week.

The tribute was tied to a tree at 6 pm on Wednesday 13 September, but when the caller returned at 10 pm that evening, the lantern was no longer in place, and it is believed it was stolen during that time.
Police are keen to speak to anyone with information about the incident.

Sergeant Gareth Kerr said: “This item was of immense sentimental value and was left in the location as a tribute.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have information as to the whereabouts of the memorial lantern. The same goes for anyone who may have any footage which could aid our enquiries.
