Police issue further concerns over Nitrous Oxide usage

LOCAL police have raised further concerns after finding more evidence of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) usage in the Hatton and Appleton areas of Warrington.

Recent evidence of Nitrous Oxide (NOS) usage was discovered on Sankey Lane at Hatton, where local officers will be paying additional attention to the area over the next few weeks.

Police have also been informed the fields near to Goose Lane have seen recent usage of NOS by unknown persons and at Pewterspear Green Pavilion, both these areas will also be given extra attention.

Anyone with information that can help identify anyone taking NOS at these or any locations please contact police.

Police are regularly warning about the dangers of the gas stating: “Inhaling Nitrous Oxide is not safe, it can lead to unconsciousness and ultimately suffocation, as the body is essentially starved of oxygen.
“There is also evidence to show that people with heart conditions can be at higher risk of harm and that inhalation can lead to anaemia or long-term nerve damage.
“If you suspect any activity where you think nitrous oxide is being consumed please let us know via 101 or the Cheshire Police website: https://www.cheshire.police.uk/
