Latchford’s season ends with disappointing defeat

LATCHFORD’S season came to a conclusion with a disappointing 26-10 defeat at Shevington Sharks.

The hosts started the game the strongest, and opened up a 12-point lead within the opening 15 minutes to put them in control.
Albion reduced the deficit when Charlie McCurrie (pictured) barged his way over with Rob Marsh converting leaving the game delicately in the balance at 12-6 at half time.
The second half was an almost carbon copy of the first with two early tries by the hosts opening up a lead that ultimately took the game away from Albion.
Although McCurrie crossed for his second try on the hour mark, it was purely a consolation score and a late Shevington try extended the winning margin further.

Coach Martyn Ellis said: “When we reflect we will realise what a mixed bag of a season it has been. The team have had some fantastic victories, but by the same token some disappointing losses.
“We now have to try and find that balance of consistency which will result in us pushing for play off places.
“We have the squad to achieve this, and with every game the lads are gaining valuable experience which just needs to transfer onto the pitch to get us the win in these tight games.
“The spirit within the camp is exceptional from players through to coaches and it’s a great environment to be a part of. “
