Fire crews tackle skip fire and fire in the open

FIRE crews were called out to deal with a skip fire at Penketh and a fire in the open at Latchford.

At 18:47 yesterday (Sunday) evening, one crew was called to reports of a fire out of control in the open on Reynolds Street, Latchford.

A large amount of tree and branch debris was on fire and out of control. The blaze was put out by firefighters using a hose reel jet. They then dampened the area down to ensure no further ignition.

Earlier at 13:26 one crew from Penketh was called to reports of a skip on fire on Well Lane, which was put out using a hose reel jet. It is believed the fire may have been started deliberately and police were informed.
