WHEN you think of Daresbury Laboratory, near Warrington, you don’t immediately think of LEGO.

But in fact, a dynamic LEGO workshop was held at the laboratory’s recent open day – conducted by local school teacher Steve Guinness.

Mr Guinness, an accomplished design and technology teacher at Cransley School, Great Budworth, is also a LEGO enthusiast.

For several years he has passionately developed a thriving venture focused on building bespoke LEGO models and running immersive hands-on workshops.
The summer holidays are often a busy time for Mr Guinness who runs LEGO workshops, with the aim of inspiring people to be more creative using LEGO bricks. At the start of the current school summer break, he volunteered at The British Grand Prix in Silverstone, running LEGO activities in the Family Zone.

An impressive 16,500-piece LEGO Mosaic depicting a Formula 1 car was meticulously designed and constructed by Mr Guinness, inviting event attendees of all ages to join in the assembly process at Daresbury Laboratory.
The colossal four-metre-long masterpiece served as a testament to the universal appeal of LEGO and its power to unite people in shared enjoyment and exploration.
Post-Silverstone, Mr Guinness has been conducting LEGO workshops at a number of different venues such as schools, libraries – and even the Daresbury Laboratory Open Day.
