COUNCILLORS at Warrington have given the go-ahead for extensions to a veterinary clinic despite opposition from Appleton Parish Council.

The development will be at Appleton Hall Veterinary Clinic in Dudlow Green Road, Appleton and will provide an additional operating theatre, preparation room, kennels, cold store and rear service access in a single-storey extension.
It will result in the loss of three spaces on the public car park which also serves a Co-op store, hairdressers, dental practice and GP surgery.

Appleton parish council, which meets in the nearby parish hall, opposed the scheme on the grounds it would result in the loss of spaces on an already inadequate car park and create access and reduced visibility for delivery drivers and refuse collection.
Planning officers recommended the scheme for approval and said there would not be any significant loss of parking provision nor impact on the design and appearance of the area.
The proposal would also offer benefits to the local community and support the vitality and the successful economy of the local shopping centre.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee approved the scheme.
