Teenage boy sadly dies following police incident as M6 closed

A teenage boy has sadly died following a police incident on the M6 at Birchwood, Warrington last night.

A full road closure was put in place on the M6 between junctions 21a and 21 last night.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at 9.40pm on Thursday 17 August to the M6 at J21 following reports of a concern for safety of a teenage boy.
“Sadly, despite best efforts, the teenager passed away at the scene.
“A full road closure was put in place while emergency services were in attendance.”
