LOCAL residents have a chance to meet the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Steve Wright, for an afternoon tea event at the Town Hall.

The heritage afternoon tea event is taking place on Friday 1 September, 2.30am to 4pm. Tickets cost £10.95 and include a traditional afternoon tea.

Guest speaker, Harry Wells, a local historian, will discuss William Beamont (1797-1889) who may be called the founder of modern Warrington.

Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite.
Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Steve Wright, said: “The story of William Beaumont is a fascinating one. As the very first mayor of Warrington, following its incorporation as a municipal borough, he played a key role in shaping our town into the place it is today – including founding our municipal library, which was the first rate-aided library in the UK. If you’d like to find out more about this most influential of Warrington figures, please join us at our special event. Everyone is welcome!”
