A vandal who spray painted a Tommy Silhouette war memorial at Walton has been ordered to pay more than £5,000 in court costs and compensation.

Liam Lynne, aged 24 from Guernsey Close, Appleton, was caught following a police appeal last year after vandalising several properties in the Chester Road area including the Walton war memorial ‘Tommy’ silhouette with spray paint.

After investigating the incident police identified Lynn as the offender. He was interviewed at Stockton Heath police station and after admitting the offences the male was issued with a conditional caution with set conditions he had to comply with, including cleaning the paint he had sprayed on local properties.

Unfortunately, not all the conditions were met, the male was therefore summoned to court on the charge of criminal damage. The male pleaded guilty to all charges, he was given a conditional discharge for 2 years, and ordered to pay £4954 in compensation, £120 court costs and £26 in victim surcharges.
was charged with four counts of criminal damage in relation to the following –
•On 14/01/2023 at Warrington, without lawful excuse, damaged an external wall to the value of £1,500.00 belonging to The Stagg Inn intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged.
•On 14/01/23 at Warrington, without lawful excuse, DAMAGED WALLS AND SWING BRIDGE to the value of £1,500 belonging to THE STAGG INN intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged
•On 14/01/23 at Warrington, without lawful excuse, DAMAGED AN EXTERNAL WALL BY SPRAY PAINTING to the value of £3,204 belonging to PEEL PORTS intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged
•On 14/01/23 at Warrington, without lawful excuse, DAMAGED A SOLIDIER FIGURE to the value of UNKNOWN belonging to STRETTON PARISH COUNCIL intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged.

Police would like to thank everyone who contacted them with information including CCTV that helped identify the male involved.
They would also like to thank the unknown lady who took the time to clean all paint off the Tommy silhouette, who has been asked to get in touch so she can be tanked personally.
