Rain almost completely wiped out all cricket

RAIN almost completely wiped out all cricket involving Warrington teams on Saturday.

Grappenhall’s game against fellow-strugglers Cheadle in the Cheshire County League premier division was cancelled without a ball being bowled – leaving Grappers still languishing one place above the relegation zone, one place below Cheadle.
On Sunday, Grappenhall 3rd were able to play their game against Brooklands and celebrated with a fine victory.
Grappers hit 175-6 with David Coyne hitting 64 and Ben Clissold 46.
Brooklands were rolled over for 82, Omar Arif taking 4-23 and Cassius Birch 3-16.

Warrington managed to start their game at Kingsley but were bowled out for 84 so the arrival of the rain was perhaps welcome, resulting in a rain affected draw.
All other Saturday games were cancelled.
But the following day, Appleton’s women’s team played their game at Leigh in the Cheshire Women’s League.
The home side batted first and hit a formidable 224-5
Opener Emma Barlow hit a fine 64 when Appleton replied but got little support from her team mates until Abbey Gore hit a swift 31, including two sixes and three fours at the end of the innings.
Appleton finished on 168 all out.
