Car clocked at 75mph on village road

A car was clocked travelling at 75mph, almost double the 40 mph limit on a village road at Hatton, Warrington.

The shocking speed was revealed by local police after collecting data from the Speed Indicator Devices (SID) from Warrington Road at Hatton and London Road, Appleton. Both 40mph speed limits.

The full results from the SIDs were:
London Road, between the Cat and Lion and Owen’s Corner
Deployment dates: 23rd July to 2nd August
13785 vehicles recorded passing the SID
Highest speed recorded: 67mph
Average vehicle speed: 36mph
17.7% of vehicles recorded travelling on excess of the 40mph speed limit.

Warrington Road. Between Park Lane and Hatton Village.
Deployment dates: 23rd July to 1st August
4439 vehicles recorded passing the SID
Highest speed recorded: 75mph
Average vehicle speed: 38mph
46% of vehicles recorded travelling on excess of the 40mph speed limit.
