NEW research has revealed Warrington as the 3rd safest area to live in the UK although it has the highest utility bills!

The study, conducted by OutdoorToys, looked into several factors which make for a happy and well-balanced family life to find out which areas of the UK can be crowned as home to the happiest families!

Warrington ranked as the third safest place to live for UK families, with a safety index score of 68.33. Completing the top 3 and described as an “industrial town” the safety index puts residents at low-risk of being attacked, having a car stolen, or being a victim of a hate crime. Although house prices are as low as £230,000, the research revealed Warrington has the highest monthly utility bills at an average of £369.16 a month!

York was crowned as the safest area for families to live in the UK, with a safety index score of 73.09. The picturesque city had a very good rate of perceived safety among locals with rates of stolen cars and robberies particularly low in the area. York also ranked highly for the most things to do, with 34 per 10,000 people, making it perfect for families who are looking to have some fun!
The second Yorkshire town in the top 3 was Rotherham, with a safety index score of 72.94. Due to low levels of crime, homeowners in Rotherham are not worried about being mugged, attacked, or targeted by a hate crime. Paired with low average house prices of £163,500, and monthly childcare costs (£700) Rotherham is an appealing city for family life.

At the other end of the scale Rochdale, Coventry and Salford are deemed the unsafest cities to live in the UK.
The northern of Liverpool and Hull were crowned the areas with the happiest families, scoring 6.35 out of 10.
The Yorkshire port city of Hull took the top spot as the area with the cheapest house prices, averaging £127,500, two times less than the national average and more than four times less than the capital.
Salford took the unfortunate title of the city with the unhappiest families, scoring a mere 3.09 out of 10.
