Grappers lose to league leaders – despite putting in a strong performance

GRAPPENHALL lost at league leaders Didsbury, despite putting in a strong performance and earning seven points – enough to lift them out of the relegation zone.
Winning the toss, Grappers elected to field first and restricted the home side to 267-8. Adam Roylance starred with the ball, taking 4-80.
Grappenhall went for the runs but lost three cheap wickets.
Arav Shetty hit 54, Albert Pennington 77 and Ben Boda 30 but when the last wicket fell they were 222. But they chased the runs right to the end, peppering the boundary with a total of six sixes – two of t hem from wicket keeper William Fell, batting at number 10, who hit 22 from 21 balls.
It was another game where Grappers showed they could compete with the best in the premier division and deserve to be in a higher position in the league table.
Grappenhall 2nd won by eight wickets at home to Bramhall, bowling out the visitors for a mere 56.
Opening bowler Ross Arrowsmith took 5-21.
Grappers strolled to 57-2, with Steve Rooney hitting 29 not out.

Warrington won by one run after a nail-biting finish at Heaton Mersey after being asked to bat first.
They were all out for a modest 165, withRobert Dempster top-scoring with 39, Harley Barratt hitting
38 not out and opener Patrick Tyrell hitting 31.
The home side got off to a bad start but the later batsmen began to catch up with the run rate and
were always in the chase. The last wicket fell with the score on 164.
Umer Zeb took 3-32 and Aamir Ali 3-24.
Warrington 3rd lost by nine wickets at Middlewich after being rolled-over for a paltry 93 in 33 overs.
Warrinton 4th lost by 53 runs at home to Cheadle Hulme.
The visitors hit 203-6 and Warrington were bowled out for 150, despite a fine 58 from Dominic
Hastings and 37 from skipper Howard Sellers.

Lymm Oughtrington Park won by 101 at home to Winsford.
Batting first they hit 195-9, mainly due to opener Antonnel Atwell who hit an impressive 90 off 79
balls.
The visitors were dismissed for 94 with Atwell taking 3-2 and Vikram Pearce 3-17.
Lymm 2nd lost by four wickets at Wilmslow after being bowled out for 78
Appleton were well beaten at Bowdon Vale after being bowled out for 84 in 35 overs.
The home side batted first and hit a useful 186-6, despite a good performance by Appleton’s Dave Sujith, who took 3-39
Appleton were never in the hunt, with only opener Adam Pearson, 31 and Moshin Rafique, 23, reaching double figures
Appleton 3rd lost by 15 runs at home to Glazebury 2nd.
Glazebury elected to bat first and hit 147, the bulk of the runs coming from openers Neelesh Saxena, 54 and Umar Raja, 41.
Appleton could only muster 132 in their 40 0vers, Anthony Hurst top scoring with 33. Glazebury used five bowlers who shared the wickets between them.
Glazebury 1st lost a low-scoring game at home to Frodsham after putting the home side in first.
Frodsham were all out for 79, Tom Whitby taking 4-10.
But Glazebury were rolled-over for 42, with Chris Lord top-scoring with 22.
