Two arrested following violent disorder after armed men force entry into property

POLICE have arrested two men in connection with a violent disorder incident in Leicester Street, Warrington, yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

At around 6.30pm on Wednesday 26 July, police were called to reports that two men armed with weapons had forced entry into an address on Leicester Street and threatened the occupants.

Following enquiries officers arrested two men from Warrington in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 27 July. The 23-year-old and 19-year-old were both arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. They are currently being held in police custody and are assisting officers with their enquiries.

Leading the investigation, PC Chicken said: “I hope today’s arrests provide reassurance to the local community, demonstrating that we are committed to doing all we can to tackle this type of crime.
“We have followed a number of extensive enquiries which has led to two local men being arrested, however this investigation remains very much ongoing.

“While our enquiries continue, I urge anyone who was in the area at the time and believes they may have witnessed the incident, or may have seen anything suspicious or unusual, to get in touch.
“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation.”
