WARRINGTON South MP Andy Carter and angry local residents are calling for urgent action after a motorist appeared to deliberately plough through a flock of geese walking in the road at Whittle Hall, Warrington.
The shocking scene was captured on CCTV and police have been asked to take action against the motorist following the incident on Omega Boulevard, yesterday, Saturday, with more than 1,200 people already signing an online petition CLICK HERE.
Another bird was killed in another incident on nearby Kingsdale Road.
Outraged local residents took to social media to express their outrage as the defenceless birds were allegedly hit at speed and scattered across the carriageway.
Mr Carter, who was alerted by local constituents said: “CCTV appears to show a car hitting a flock of geese which resulted in more than six birds being killed and a further 4 seriously injured. I understand Cheshire Police are pursuing the driver in relation to alleged driving offences.
“I’ve heard from a number of residents who live along Kingsdale Road that they are concerned about the speed at which some cars travel along this piece of road, particularly because birds regularly gather on the carriageway there needs to be some traffic calming measures, I’m concerned that the next incident could be far more serious and involve children. The council needs to listen to local residents and take action.”
One resident who contacted Warrington Worldwide abu the incident on Omega Boulevard said two other birds were killed later the same day by other speeding vehicles.
