Dynamis Associates acquires Arctica Partners

WARRINGTON-based domestic retrofit and renewable energy specialist, Dynamis Associates, has acquired Arctica Partners as the company looks to solidify its position as a leading player in the UK’s race to achieve Net Zero.

The acquisition forms part of a strategic growth plan that will see Dynamis Associates make several further acquisitions over the coming months as it looks to develop a closed-loop ecosystem, helping businesses decarbonise and households unlock affordable green energy.
Arctica Partners will provide Dynamis Associates with the only approved project methodology (globally) for domestic carbon credit creation and has a significant forward pipeline of enrolled retrofit activity out to 2026. It will make Dynamis Associates the only company able to create carbon credits with a measurable and verifiable environmental and social impact in the UK.
The essential work of retrofitting the UK’s housing stock to improve its thermal and energy efficiency is expensive. Under Arctica’s pioneering carbon finance model, businesses can offset carbon emissions by funding measurable, locally focused projects. These projects enable homeowners and social housing providers to expedite the pace and scale of housing retrofit.

The new Dynamis Associates and Arctica Partners model will provide businesses with even further opportunities to positively impact their local communities through the free installation of solar panels and batteries for UK households living in energy poverty.
The management team at Arctica Partners, including Managing Director Simon Turek, will remain in place, with the company integrating into the existing Dynamis Associates structure.
Martin Smith, CEO at Dynamis Associates, says: “The UK Government has a target to be Net Zero by 2050, and the biggest contributor to carbon emissions in the UK is private domestic properties.”
“Arctica Partners provides a unique offering to funding a low-carbon housing stock that will have a significant impact in helping the country to achieve these goals. Their crediting methodology will facilitate businesses with UK operations on their decarbonisation journey, supporting accessibility of warmer homes and lower energy bills for the country’s most fuel-poor households at scale. It was the right time for us to take ownership of the business and support its future growth, helping to supercharge the adoption of green energy solutions.”

As of 30 June 2023, Arctica Partners’ RetrofitCredits service, operated with the Housing Associations’ Charitable Trust (HACT), is working with over 140 housing providers, local authorities and installers to help them finance their retrofit ambitions. More than 100,000 retrofit projects are currently being funded through the platform.
Simon Turek, Managing Director at Arctica Partners, adds: “Over the last 12 months, Arctica and our partners at HACT have pioneered carbon credit revenue to accelerate housing decarbonisation. This combination will enable us to build upon the work we’ve achieved so far. Dynamis Associates is poised to enter an exciting new phase with the launch of its own solution to finance housing decarbonisation – this is a core competency of Arctica Partners, and we look forward to supporting the ambitious plans of Dynamis on this front.”

The deal was led by Mike Fletcher and Mike Bound from Arete Capital Partners, with Sean Lightfoot, Olivia Jones and James McCarthy from Hill Dickinson providing legal and corporate advice. The purchase price for Arctica Partners is confidential.
