HIGHWAY planners at Warrington Borough Council have confirmed up to six weeks of road closures on Church Lane in Grappenhall for more Heritage Area reconstructing and relaying of the cobbled road surface.

The works are scheduled for up to six weeks to take place during the school holidays, starting on July 24, while St Wilfrid’s Primary School is closed to lessen the impact in the area.

Warrington Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway on Church Lane from its junction with Broad Lane to its junction with Glebe Avenue.
The Order will be effective from 24th July 2023 for 6 weeks, as and when signed on site.

Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Church Lane, A56 Chester Road, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa or via Broad Lane, Grappenhall Lane, A50 Cliff Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa. The restrictions are required to allow continuing works to Heritage Area reconstructing and relaying cobbled road surface, including work to improve drainage.

Numerous road closures have taken place in recent years to carry out cobbled relaying and heritage area reconstructing.
