Weightlifter Josh sets sights on British Championships after winning gold in North West Open

LOCAL weightlifter Josh Summersgill is celebrating winning a gold medal in the North West Open competition and has now set his sights on the British Championships next month.

Josh, aged 32, from Westbrook, Warrington, who runs his own personal training business, came first in the North West Open in Altrincham recently, in the Male 81kg category – lifting a total weight of 259kg.
He has now qualified for the number one British Championships.

Commenting on his achievement Josh, who has lived in Warrington all his life, said: “I’m still absolutely buzzing from an incredible day. 113 / 146 for 259 total. PB Comp C&J and PB in person total! Can’t thank everyone enough for their support, here’s to the Brits!”

Josh owns JS weightlifting in Warrington and is specialised in teaching Olympic weightlifting, personal training to concentrate on performance and overall fitness.
He is also a published author and is passionate about improving people’s health and fitness.
