POLICE have confirmed a suspect has been identified after the driver of a BMW car involved in a collision near the Stag Pub at Walton, fled the scene, leaving an injured member of the public requiring hospital treatment.
The incident happened shortly before 9:30pm last Thursday when an Orange BMW 330E collided with a timber structure near the pub, injurying a 47-year-old man who required hospital treatment for head injuries caused by falling debris.
Police today confirmed that a suspect had now come forward and was liaising with officers.
Folowing the incident police launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward stating: “At around 9.23pm on Thursday, June 22, officers responded to reports of a road traffic collision in Warrington.
“Officers attended the scene at a commercial property on Chester Road, Warrington, and found that an Orange BMW 330E had collided with a structure adjourning to the property.
“A member of the public, a 47-year-old man, was inside the structure at the time and received a laceration to his head from falling debris following the collision.
“He was taken to Warrington Hospital by ambulance, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.
“The driver of the vehicle, a man, then fled the scene before officers could speak to him.”
