Four try haul proved to be in vain

A FOUR try haul from Charlie McCurrie proved to be in vain as Latchford Albion fell to a disappointing 40-30 defeat at Hindley.

Albion started strongly and opened the scoring on five minutes when McCurrie barged his way over, Rob March adding the extras.
Ill discipline and handling errors crept into Latchford’s game, and the hosts fully exploited this, hitting a purple patch to register 24 points without reply in a devastating 20-minute spell, leaving the visitors stunned and facing an uphill struggle.
Shortly before half time Albion got themselves a foothold in the game when Charlie Groarke raced over from dummy half, again Marsh converting. But at half time Latchford, facing a 24-12 scoreline, still had a lot of work to do.

After the break, Latchford again started the brighter and within five minutes the deficit was reduced to six points when McCurrie crossed and March added the extras.
With the game in the balance the next score was to be vital and unfortunately for Albion it was the hosts who regained control of the game with three quickfire tries.
Two further tires from the unstoppable McCurrie, both converted by Marsh brought Latchford within ten pints of the hosts, however they could not get any closer and Hindley held on for the victory.
This Sat (July 1) sees Latchford again on their travels when they visit Haresfinch, Kick off 2.30pm
