POLICE have issued a warning about the dangers of Nitrous Oxide, often known as “laughing gas” after large canisters were found dumped at Hatton village.

During a police patrol in Hatton a local resident advised they had collected 7 large Nitrous Oxide (NOS) canisters from the end of Sankey Lane, which were safely disposed of by local officers.

As a result of this information police undertook extra checks of the area and found another quantity of NOS canister (pictured) in the same location.

Police will continue to patrol the area.

Police issued the following warning: “Inhaling Nitrous Oxide is not safe, it can lead to unconsciousness and ultimately suffocation, as the body is essentially starved of oxygen.
“There is also evidence to show that people with heart conditions can be at higher risk of harm and that inhalation can lead to anaemia or long-term nerve damage.
“If you suspect any activity where you think nitrous oxide is being consumed please let us know via 101 or the Cheshire Police website: https://www.cheshire.police.uk/
