FRENCH visitors from Lymm’s Twin Town, Meung sur Loire enjoyed good times during their recent visit, despite a heavy defeat as France went down 64-0 to England at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Among other events organised during their visit was a crown green bowling competition, kindly hosted by Oughtrington Bowling Club, which was won by one of the French visitors.
Members of the Twin Town Society subsequently enjoyed their annual “boules” afternoon which (in the absence of French friends) was won by an English pair.
The visit coincided with the England v France rugby league match at Warrington and about 20 of members attended and were probably the majority of those attending were the supporters of France. Great fun albeit a heavy defeat for France.
A day trip was organised to Hoghton Tower in Lancashire whose origins lie in the Norman barons from 1066, together with visit to Bridgewater gardens. A lovely dinner was enjoyed at Groobarbs with entertainment by the Rock Choir.
