Plan to demolish redundant brewery buildings

AN application has been submitted for permission to demolish redundant brewery buildings at the historic Burtonwood Brewery site, Warrington.

The scheme, to be considered by borough planning chiefs, involves demolition of redundant buildings and structures of the former brewery and, in their place, to provide additional storage capacity for the adjacent bottling facility.
Burtonwood Brewery dates from 1867 but, following changes in the brewing industry and the challenges of the Covid 19 pandemic, i brewing is no longer considered viable and is no longer carried out.

Since October last year there has been significant investment in the complex, including re-roofing and re-purposing the old kegging hall to provide additional storage.
However, the remaining brewery buildings are redundant and unsuitable for re-use for storage.
Warrington Borough Council planning officers are now considering the proposals
