FIRE crews from Warrington have been involved in fighting a huge barn fire at Antrobus during the night.
Shortly after 9pm last nights four crews, including firefighters from Lymm and Stockton Heath, were called out to the barn fire on Barbers Lane, Antrobus, involving a large quantity of hay bales within the barn.
Crews split the incident into sectors to manage and deployed two ground monitors and a main jet to fight the fire. The fire generated a large amount of smoke and nearby residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed. Firefighters surrounded the fire and cooled adjacent diesel tanks.
Earlier this morning crews continued to cool the diesel tank and nearby structures while the remaining hay was monitored using thermal imaging cameras.
At 9:45am a crew from Birchwood was still in attendance at the scene, checking for any signs of heat as they continued to cool down the diesel tank as a precaution.
