POLICE and bailiffs have been kept busy dealing with illegal traveller encampments at seven sites across Warrington recently, the latest near school premises at Great Sankey.

At around 2.45pm today police attended at Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub where 10 caravans and their associated vehicles were parked on a car park where children are picked up by their parents at the neighbouring Great Sankey High School.

The large police presence ensured the travellers had vacated the site within the hour.

It follows on from two encampments, one of three caravans and one of 10, vacating Orford Neighbourhood Hub, Jubilee Way, earlier today after being served with a notice to vacate the site.

An encampment of four caravans has also vacated the Asda Store, Westbrook Shopping Centre, on Cromwell Avenue.

A further five caravans had been situated at Decathlon on Jubilee Way with a further five caravans at the Athelis Club & Spa, Apollo Park, Charon Way.

Five caravans had also been located on the Lidl Store car park on Fennel Street since June 6.

  1. What’s the attraction of Warrington with these travellers ?
Is it because the authorities are too soft with them ? Instead of dealing with them robustly !
