Grappenhall’s magnificent victory over highflyers

GRAPPENHALL registered a magnificent victory over highflying Neston in the Cheshire County League to move up to ninth position in the premier division table.

Batting first at Broad Lane they posted a competitive 215, the last wicket falling in the final over.
Arav Shetty was the pick of the batsmen as he grafted a superb 66 at the top of the order against a strong Neston attack.
Albert Pennington and Ian Hall contributed 40 each to put Grappers to a competitive total.
The Neston batsmen never really settled as Grappers took wickets at regular intervals to take control of the game.
Shetty followed on from his innings as he skittled out the Neston tail to finish with 5-19 from six overs.
Kiwi Tom McRury also picked u p another four wickets.

Grappenhall 2nd had the best of a drawn game at Alvanley, posting a massive 280-6 with opener Dan Adkins making a superb century on his return to the side. Richard Wiles also returned to form with a vital 61 from just 50 balls.
Alvanley never got close to winning the game but they dug in to finish on 224-6. Steve Rooney was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets…
Grappenhall 3rd won again after posting a decent 195 all out. Iain Wright top scored with 36 and the rest of the line-up all contributed.
After tea, all five bowlers picked up wickets with Omar arif taking three wickets to finish things off.
Warrington got the best of a hard-fought draw at Upton.
Batting first, they hit 210-8. Thaakier Davids top scored with 67, Umer Zeb hit a lively 40 not out and skipper Ashley Scholes 34.
The home side’s last pair were at the wicket when the overs ran out with them on 170-9. Jonathan Howell took 4-46 and Davids followed up h is batting performance with 3-35.

Warrington 2nd went down by nine wickets at home to Ashton-on-Mersey in a match they would rather forget.
Tumbled out for 67 they then saw the visitors knock off the runs for the loss of one wickets in just nine overs.
But Warrington 3rd won by 95 runs at home to Bredbury St Marks.
Batting first, they hit a challenging 240-6. With Vishy Ramakrishna hitting 66, Mahtab Alam 68 and David Baxter 47. The visitors could only muster 145-5.
In the Cheshire Cricket League, Lymm Oughtrington Park lost by five wickets at home to Holmes Chapel.
Skipper Sshovan Chattergee top scored with 48 and Richard Parkinson 23 to stage something of a come-back after a poor start, but Lymm could only reach 161 all out.
The visitors reached their target with time to spare.
Lymm 2nd lost by 14 runs in a close-fought game at Timperley.
The home wide batted first and were all out for 182, Yash Shinda taking 3-15 and Reuben Roberts 3-32. Lymm were all out for 168, Rajeep Bose hitting 37 not out and Amey Karkhanis 30.
Lymm 3rd won by 72 runs hosting Oakmere.
Gary Parsons hit 50 not out as Lymm batted first and hit 207-7 and Oakmere were restricted to 135-7.
Glazebury beat Styal by eight runs after an exciting finish at Hurst Lane.
Anthony Meulman hit 45 and Jack Whitehead 20 as Glazebury totalled 138.
The visitors were all out for 130 with Ben Marota taking 5-34 and Sean Caine 4-12.

WOMEN’S CRICKET

ANNIE Rashid demolished Oakmere’s batting line-up when she took 7-14 in 7.4 overs for Appleton.
Oakmere – who have yet to win a match in the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League this season – were bowled out for 27 and Appleton knocked off the runs in 23 balls, for the loss of one wicket.
Opener Emma Barlow hit 15 not out.
Rashid was only the seventh player to take seven wickets in a CWCL match – one of the others being Jenny Clarke, of Appleton.
Ironically, one of the others was Sarah Worsdale, of Oakmere – one of the three she didn’t dismiss!
