Shopping trolley filled with paper and set on fire at Orford

POLICE were alerted after a shopping trolley was filled with paper and set on fire at Orford, Warrington, last night in a suspected arson incident.

At 21:11 one crew from Warrington was called to Windermere Avenue after a shopping trolley was filled with paper was on fire.

Firefighters used a water backpack to extinguish it. Police were also informed because the fire was believed to have been started deliberately.

Earlier at  20:06 two crews were called to reports of a kitchen fire on Alconbury Close, Hood Manor.
The fire is believed to have been started by an electrical toy car on charge. Crews wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

A large fan was also used to ventilate the area. All persons were accounted for.
At 18:40 one fire engine from Birchwood was called out to Croft following reports of a fire in a wooded area.. The fire was approximately 10 square meters. An extended hose reel jet was used to put the fire out.
