WARRINGTON South MP Andy Carter is backing a campaign to keep local Post Offices on the High Street.

After raising his concerns about the future viability of smaller post offices in Parliament, Mr Carter met with the Post Offices area manager for Cheshire and Merseyside along with Latchford Sub Postmaster Chris Burroughs.

Mr Carter said: “I’m keen to make sure that important services from the DVLA and Passport Office are retained in High Street branches and investment is made in the local network, given the popularity of online shopping deliveries the link with Royal Mail and other delivery companies needs to be maintained.

“Chris and his team in Latchford offer a deposit and withdrawal service for most Banks as well as a foreign currency in the bureau de change – we don’t want to lose these really important services in our local communities and I’m working to ensure there’s a fair deal for postmasters who runs the services.”
