Warrington storm to five wicket victory

WARRINGTON stormed to a five wicket victory over Kingsley in their Cheshire County League match at Walton Lea after winning the toss and asking the visitors to bat first.
Kingsley were bowled out for 98 in 36 overs, with only a defiant 46 from wicket keeper Matthew Dunning keeping them in the match at all.
Umer Zebb took 4-25 and Brad McIntosh 3-16 were the pick of Warrington’s bowlers.
Warrington had 37 on the board before they lost a wicket, with Patrick Tyrell hitting 46. Thaakier Davids hit 21 not out to make sure the home side won comfortable.
But Joel Logan bowled well for Kingsley, taking 5-23.
Warrington 2nd lost by one wicket after an exciting finish at Neston.
Batting first, Warrington totalled 187-7 in 50 overs.
Neston, who had won the toss replied with 188-9 with only one ball remaining.
Warrington 3rd lost by two wickets at Wilmslow after being put in and scoring 187 all out. The home side reached their target with eight wickets down in the 39th over.

Grappenhall travelled to Cheadle and put up a brave fight but were on the wrong side of the result.
Batting first, they posted a below par 115 all out, Ben Bodha batting superbly against the strong Cheadle bowling attack to finish 65 not out.
Grappers fought hard after tea and made Cheadle work for their runs. Unfortunately, it was too tall an ask as Cheadle won by three wickets. Kiwi Tom MacRury picked up 4 -39 and Arav Shetty 2-13.

At Broad Lane the Grappenhall 2nd won comfortably against Romiley by the mammoth margin of 191 runs.
Grappers posted a massive 253-3 with Richard Wiles scoring a superb century, finishing on 125 off just 113 balls. Opener Dan Adkins chipped in with 74. Romiley were never in the race as they were rolled over for just 62. Lloyd Milligan led the bowling attack with 4=13 off 10 overs.
Grappenhall 3rd won away to Ashley in a low scoring game. Ashley batted first and were bowled out for 138 in the final over of their innings, Lloyd Milligan carrying on his fine form as he picked up 3-off 10 overs. James Knowles and Omar Arif picked up two wickets each.
In response Grappers’young side lost wickets regularly , but young James Knowles carried his bat, finishing on 60 not out to guide Grappers home with four wickets and seven balls to spare.

In the Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park went down by 73 runs hosting Cholmondeley, who batted first at Oughtrington Lane and hit 146-7. Anthony Spaven, Andy Hossack and Antonnel Atwell took two wickets each for Lymm.
The home side batted disappointingly and were all out for 73 with Atwell top-scoring with 20.
Lymm 2nd went down by four wickets at Winnington Park after being dismissed for 101. The home side hit 104-6,

Appleton lost by 20 runs in a competitive match at Chester County Officers after the home side had elected to bat first and scored 217-8. Four bowlers took two wickets each for Appleton.
Wesley Jenkins hit a superb 78 for Appleton, but the side were all out for 197.
Appleton 2nd also played the County Officers -and also lost.
Batting first, Appleton hit 160-9 with Ian Mason hitting 48 and Liam Mannion 46. The visitors replied with 166-7. Phil Jackson took 4-46 and Mahmood Mir 3-30.
Appleton 3rd completed a dismal weekend for the club, going down by nine wickets at Ashley after being bowled out for 111. Oliver Cross’s 49 was the only innings of note.

Glazebury went down by four wickets at Burton after being dismissed for 97, Jack Whitehead 32 and Wayne Hargreaves 20.
The Wirral side coasted to victory for the loss of six wickets, Whitehead taking 3-35.
Glazebury lost heavily at home to Rostherne who hammered 273-8, largely due to opener Isaac Appleby’s 151. Cassius Birch took 3-39.
