New weight restriction planned for Hallfields Road as traffic calming measures create noise problems

0

HIGHWAY planners are proposing to introduce a weight limit on vehicles using the entire length of Hallfields Road at Orford because new traffic calming measures have increased noise generated by larger vehicles.

Any objectors have until June 8 to make their representations against plans for a 7.5 tonnes weight limit, except to access.

Warrington Borough Council highway planners say Hallfields Road is deemed inappropriate for use by goods vehicles which should be using more suitable, strategic routes to navigate through the area.

The weight limit would further support additional walking, cycling and greener methods of travel following the speed limit reduction to 20 miles per hour and traffic calming measures recently introduced to reduce vehicle speeds and deter further usage by goods vehicles.
The recent installation of traffic calming measures has increased noise generated by larger vehicles negotiating the features resulting in a loss of amenity for residents.
