Road closures and air ambulance called following serious collision at Appleton

ROAD closures were put in place by police as emergency services, including the air ambulance attended a serious road traffic collision on London Road, Appleton.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the two vehicle collision which is believed to have resulted in a woman receiving serious injuries to her arm.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 3.40pm today (Friday 19 May), police were called to reports of a collision on Broomfields Road, Appleton, and officers are currently in attendance.

“The collision involved a white Nissan Qashqai and a blue Skoda Fabia.

“The driver of the white Nissan, a woman, is believed to have sustained serious injuries to her arm.
“Road closures are currently in place at the junction of Broomfields Road and London Road while emergency services tend to the incident.

Firefighters from Lymm and Warrington worked to release one trapped casualty.

UPDATE 16.55: The casualty has now been taken to hospital via ambulance.
