Police seek witnesses after 14-year-old-boy robbed of coat after knife threat

POLICE are seeking witnesses after a 14-year-old was robbed of his coat at Sankey Valley Park after being approached by three teenage boys.

When he refused to hand over his coat the youngster was threatened by one of the teenagers who implied he had a knife.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 5.50pm on Sunday 7 May police were made aware of an armed robbery at Sankey Valley park.
“The caller reported that a 14-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were walking towards Wellfield Street via a public footbridge.
“As the pair were crossing the bridge, the two teenagers were approached by three unknown teenage boys.
“One of the suspects proceeded to ask the boy to hand over his coat, when the victim refused, the teenager then threatened the victim implying he had a knife, although no weapons were seen. The boy complied and gave the offender his coat.

“The suspects were believed to be teenage boys aged between 13 and 15-years-old and were dressed in black tracksuits.
“The victim has since stated that he does not wish to make a formal complaint.”
