Residents sound alarm over Central6 council survey error

CONCERNED residents campaigning against the controversial Central6 LTN scheme at Westy and Latchford have sounded the alarm over a council QR code survey error.

A QR code distributed by the council in the area which when scanned took people to a page saying the ‘Westy LTN feedback survey is now closed’ even though the survey is open until 22nd May.

Warrington Borough Council had invited more than 5,000 residents to give feedback on their experience of its controversial Westy/Latchford Central 6 Street Plans, dropping invitations to complete a survey through residents doors.

Local resident David Marshall said: ” There have been lots of people complaining online for over a week about not being able to access the survey. The QR code is a more reliable way to access the survey for folk who can’t type the full survey web address which is an unfriendly 42 characters long. It is a major error to direct people to a ‘closed survey notice’ during the statutory survey consultation period and many will have just given up filling it in – which is what we have seen online.”

To help residents from the Stop the Central 6 Street Plans has set up a simple webpage at wwwcentral6.org/survey and released the following QR Code – see below.
It’s understood that around 530 surveys have been completed so far.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “The error with the QR code has been picked up and has now been rectified.
“The survey has remained live and can also be accessed via the web address, which is set out in the leaflet provided to residents as an alternative means of accessing the online survey.
“As advertised on the leaflet, paper survey forms are also available in Westy Community Centre and Westy Children’s Centre.
“The survey form can also be accessed directly from the project web page at www.warrington.gov.uk/central-6-streets-plan .”

  1. Didn’t even get a survey form through the door so didn’t know about paper copies. It was only by being on the FB page that we found out about them. Managed to do it online using the link not the QR code. To say they had invited 5000 where had they posted them. We also never get their newsletter

  2. Although I live in Grappenhall it is a direct route to go into Town and elsewhere for me.
Grange Avenue is a natural relief road .
The present system is causing chronic congestion on Kingsway south and knutsford road.
This congestion increases the volume of toxic fumes in the area. Than already existed/ exists.
